We are really pleased with our decision to get an Alapaha. Just going through the recent death of our last dog Magnus (American Staffordshire) we weren't exactly ready for another dog. I just happen to inquire about the breed one night while at work reminiscing over Maggs. I e-mailed Ken about the Breed and if he had any litters planned in the future. Ken was very helpful and sympathetic to our recent loss. Through further talk I realised that he and his girlfriend Cheryl were genuinely concerned with the breed and finding the right home for their pups. I had a good feeling so I made the two and half hour trip to visit and meet with them and Trixie. Trixie one of the 4 out of the March 14th 2010 litter is now called Matilda. It was a surprise for my wife when I came home but all I can tell you is that she fit in from the moment I took her home. My wife fell in love with her as soon as she poked her head out of the blanket. She has grown physically and mentally and emotionally with us, she is such a great pup. A very smart breed and the training has been easy. She is one of the family and has adapted very well to her environment. We continue to stay in touch with Ken and Cheryl, and they have helped us with any concerns and updates. We have had a couple of parental visits which have been great. Matilda has been lucky enough that she occasionally gets to see her canine family. Its just as fun for us as it is for her. It would be safe to say she is irreplaceable as was our last dog. Also we consider Ken and Cheryl as our friends, they have been great. The whole experience has been very positive and she makes our life that much nicer.
